and TEDDY ROOSEVELT in the back. Many more beautiful classic portraits at The White House were impressive reminders of an
artistic age long since gone. (Hopefully we'll get it back this century.)

"He was a great man," spoke Japanese Ambassador Sasae about Furuya Sisters' great-granduncle the 44th Prime Minister of Japan Baron
KIJURO SHIDEHARA
.  In 1945 when the War ended, Emperor called on Shidehara (then in internal exile) to become Japan's Prime Minister.
Shidehara became Ambassador to the US in 1919, and then became Japan's Foreign Minister.  He is known for Shidehara Diplomacy -
pacifist & liberal diplomacy in the 1920s - until the militarists ousted him in 1931.  As the immediate postwar Prime Minister of Japan,
Shidehara worked closely with General Douglas MacArthur.  Shidehara authored the postwar Japanese Constitution's Article 9
"Peace Clause" that banned all weapons & military in Japan.

Shidehara was a good friend of Teddy Roosevelt, whose son later visited him in Japan.

It was thanks to the supreme legendary violinist JASCHA HEIFETZ that the Furuya Sisters came to perform at the Japan Embassy event.
Being a devout Heifetz fan & disciple, Harumi contacts everyone who has to do with Heifetz, and so contacted a New York Times author
Dr. Schoenbaum who wrote a piece on Heifetz. The author is also an amateur violinist who plays in the same orchestra as the
financial counselor at the Japan Embassy, Mr. Okada, a cellist — who invited the Sisters to the Embassy event.

Hollywood legend SOPHIA LOREN kindly invited Furuya Sisters to meet her after the show on March 17, 2016. (Sakiko is missing
because she was sick that day.) Conversation with Miss Loren throughout the photo shoot revolved around legendary actor
ROBERT TAYLOR who was also a cellist.
